Shrink wrapping can be a difficult task, and there are some basics we need to know before wrapping a product to ensure that suitable materials are selected and that the shrink can be done successfully.
What is Shrink Wrap?
Shrink wrap is a plastic film made from plastic that can be heated to make the movie fit the product tightly and provide a good seal that protects the product from damage and isolates it from the air.
Shrink film can be used for books, food, pharmaceuticals, CD cases, and cosmetics. Polyolefin shrink film, for example, can be used in direct contact with food, such as pizza, fruits, and vegetables. It is FDA-approved for direct contact with food, and large items can also be shrink-wrapped.
Because of its good sealing performance, transparency, and the reduction of the cost of enterprises due to the popularity of various countries.

What is the method of shrink-wrapping?
You must understand two very important factors: first, you must prepare the right type of heat shrink film, such as polyolefin shrink film, PVC shrink film, and PE shrink film. Second, you must have the right heating tools, such as a hot air gun, to make the film shrink.
Steps of Packaging
Step 1: Sharp areas in shrink film make it easy to tear and rupture during the shrinking process, so check whether there are fragile or sharp areas. You need to check around and confirm the sharp areas, and then you need to use foam, tape, and strapping for undivided packaging, which needs to be carefully checked. Make sure that it will not break in the shrink wrap.
Step 2: Pad the sharp and easily damaged areas.
Step 3: Measure the item’s approximate size and decide how much shrink wrap to use. Observe the shape and decide the direction of coverage.
Step 4: Find the right side to fit around the top of the object to the other side and from the top to the bottom, and then cut so that it fits the object as closely as possible.
Step 5: Place the object in the center of the material and use spray adhesive or tape to make the material and the object stick together all the way around.
Step 6. Using a heat gun, start heat shrinking from the bottom of the object, moving evenly and smoothly from bottom to top. Remember not to stay in one spot for too long, or you’ll burn back a hole. Shrink until the top, bottom, and all around stop and cool.
Step 7: When the heat shrink is done, ensure it is secure and fits well. Note that holes, seams, and thin spots need to be taped up to minimize the risk of breakage and loss of protection. Ensure that the product is well packaged.
Factors to keep in mind when using a heat gun:
Don’t use the heat gun too close to the item when you start using it. Otherwise, the overheating can burn through a hole, and a fire can occur in severe cases.
Use a reliable heat gun with a flame produced by propane or butane.
The flame cannot touch the film or the item, so it should not be nearby.
Please keep a fire extinguisher nearby to put out the fire if it comes.
Please be safe and don’t be in a hurry. You will be able to shrink more perfectly.
